Partnerships

Our Partners

UMBC is proud of our community connections. Every day students, faculty, and staff work with partners across the region. We seek to listen deeply to the needs of our community members and to leverage the resources of the university to build and sustain meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Our Neighbors

UMBC’s main campus is nestled between Catonsville and Arbutus. It’s an area rich with businesses, restaurants, and community organizations. We are proud to partner with both the Greater Arbutus Business Association and the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce to promote local businesses to the campus community. These include several businesses founded by UMBC alumni and OCA Mocha, a new community meeting space and coffee shop in downtown Arbutus, founded by students.

Visit Extend Beyond Campus to learn more about these businesses, and the UMBC transit tracker to find out how to get there.

Corporate Partnerships

UMBC’s Corporate and Foundation Relations team builds and supports long-term partnerships between UMBC and regional, national and global corporations and foundations. They facilitate high-value partnerships that benefit the business community and support UMBC’s mission to prepare talented and diverse students to meet the needs of the 21st century.

These partnerships often include research projects with our experienced faculty and support for student scholarship and research. Companies also partner with UMBC to recruit top-tier talent for their intern and full-time job opportunities through our Career Center.

bwtech@UMBC

UMBC’s 41-acre research and technology community is comprised of a research park and technology and bioscience business incubators. Both research park and incubator companies can access campus amenities, research facilities, and UMBC’s highly skilled students, graduates, and research faculty.

bwtech@UMBC is an ideal location for both established and early-stage science and technology companies. The campus also houses the Cyber Incubator, Northrop Grumman Cync Program, and CyberHive. All are part of the growing community of nearly 50 cybersecurity companies at bwtech@UMBC.

PK-12 Schools & Community Organizations

UMBC’s partnerships with schools and community groups have a significant impact on local communities and on the UMBC faculty, students, and staff who work with them. These collaborations bridge every topic, from literacy to visual art, music, science, engineering, and math. Faculty are deeply immersed in research projects in partnership with communities across Baltimore, supporting PK-12 student learning. Student teachers intern in schools across the state. And each year UMBC hosts thousands of students of every age on campus.
