Due to the health risks presented by the COVID-19 crisis, all overnight camps and residential programs are canceled for Summer 2020. In addition, all day-camps, on-campus events, and programs/activities scheduled for June in UMBC facilities through UMBC personnel are also canceled.

UMBC encourages Retrievers to live an active and balanced life. With collegiate and intramural sports and recreational opportunities, there are fun fitness offerings for people of all skill and interest levels.


UMBC features 17 Division I men’s and women’s sports, and our scholar-athletes are known for combining their passion for athletics with their commitment to education. UMBC teams have earned several America East championship titles in recent years, including in swimming/diving, basketball, and soccer. The newly-opened UMBC Event Center hosts men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball, and comes equipped with a practice gymnasium, state-of-the-art strength and conditioning and academic centers, a sports medicine suite, multimedia spaces, and meeting facilities. Retriever Nation keeps up-to-date on games and athletics news through the UMBC Retrievers website.


Want to sign up for an intramural team or learn when yoga classes are scheduled in the Retriever Activity Center? Visit the recreation page for class schedules, special offerings, and information about how to use the facilities as a community member. The RAC provides access to the fitness studio, weight room, cardio balcony, RAC courts, arena track, arena, and an aquatics center. Workout classes are offered daily and there are several special offerings throughout the year, such as glow dodgeball and 5Ks. UMBC also offers numerous seasonal intramural and club sports, and even hosts esport tournaments.

Summer Day Camps

UMBC has been offering day camps for over 40 years. Each summer, we offer weekly programs in swimming, arts and crafts, fitness and dance, tennis and more for ages 6-13.
